The Experience Design Center seeks a dedicated Engineer III, Product Development to drive sustainable product design and innovation. - You will independently lead multiple projects, while collaborating with and supporting cross-functional teams.
- You will set clear goals and drive initiatives from concept to commercialization.
- You will contribute to Thermo Fisher's and our customers' net zero commitments.
What will you do? (Responsibilities)
- Continuously expand your knowledge of new technologies.
- Network with industry professionals and attend events to build and maintain KOL networks.
- Identify competitive landscape and differentiation opportunities for outstanding product design.
- Address current business and technical challenges and look to improve future technologies and practices.
- Contribute to projects by applying knowledge to help turn ideas into viable, more environmentally friendly products with a focus on user experience.
- Actively engage in team discussions, offering input and considering technical and business feedback.
- Advocate for innovative ideas and diverse viewpoints in project meetings with team and partners.
- Perform product environmental impact assessments.
- Assist in translating broad product portfolios into actionable balanced design archetypes, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
- Demonstrate persistence and follow-through in professional tasks, ensuring ideas and projects are pursued to completion and not abandoned prematurely.
- Develop prototypes to quantify the environmental and cost impacts of proposed design changes.
- Support the review and verification of product claims to ensure compliance with relevant sustainability standards and third-party ecolabels.
How will you get here? (Knowledge/Skills)
- 1-2 years of experience in sustainability, R&D, product design, or a combination thereof.
- Familiarity with instrumentation, consumables, and workflows used in academia, pharma and biotech research laboratories.
Education & Experience
- The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $96,000.00-$125,000.00.
