Job Title: Technical Copy Editor
Location: Fully Remote
Duration: 18 Months Contract
Typical Day in the Role:
Candidate Requirements:
• Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
• Disqualifiers: Candidates with all previous job titles being very technical in nature would indicate a lack of experience in writing and communication and will not be eligible for the role.
Best resume would have experience in a fast-paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proactive mindset. They should be proficient in Markdown in GitHub, Clipchamp, and Azure DevOps.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
1. Minimum 2 years’ experience with technical expertise with products such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia or Clipchamp, GitHub, Markdown and .xml. (with a focus on Markdown in GitHub)
2. Minimum 2-3 years’ experience with Azure DevOps (ADO)
3. Minimum 1-2 years’ experience with creating and managing training content, particularly training-oriented materials.
Technical Editor
Responsibilities include:
• Organize material and complete editing assignment according to set Microsoft and FastTrack standards regarding clarity, conciseness, formatting, style, terminology, branding, accessibility, privacy and security.
• Prepare documentation and videos for publication and localization (both internal and customer-facing use), including process documents, technical articles, guides, reports and some limited graphics.
• Light postproduction video editing of recorded presentations and demos.
• Meet with content owners to ensure final materials meet their criteria and objectives while adhering to Learn standards.
• Manage and regularly communicate on project timelines, expectations, and status across multiple stakeholders.
• Assist with content management to ensure content stays fresh and relevant.
• Track tasks and work in Azure Dev Ops.
Capabilities:
• 5+ years’ experience in a technical writing role
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Microsoft 365 product experience or knowledge
• Technical expertise with products such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia or Clipchamp, GitHub, Markdown and .xml
• Familiarity and ability to manage work in Azure Dev Ops
• Strong project management and communication skills
• Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to handle ambiguity and multi-task
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proven track record of working with a remote team
• Work experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot and with creating training a plus
