The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assume the responsibilities of the Director for Strength and Conditioning in their absence. This position is responsible for specific sports, volunteers, and interns as assigned. The Assistant Coach makes independent decisions daily regarding the strength and conditioning program planning and execution for the assigned sport teams and individuals; these decisions are based upon the strength and conditioning coach’s knowledge base in the field, the sport, the position and/or event, and the individual student-athlete. This position works with sports medicine in the development of post-acute long term return to play protocols of injured athletes. This position has a lead role and provides direction and guidance to student interns, volunteer coaches, and student-athletes.

- Comply fully with all NCAA, ASUN (or other conference), and Stetson University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment
- Coordinate and develop yearly strength and conditioning programs as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning with a major focus on men’s and women’s basketball
- Meet with assigned sports coaches regularly to review and discuss any and all aspects of their strength and conditioning program
- Develop and implement instructional plans and, within these instructional plans, address any special needs/issues of individual student-athletes and for student-athletes in their areas of specialization; instructional plans will include the areas of strength training, conditioning, speed development, agility, flexibility, and nutrition; all instruction must include education on proper technique; all instruction must be done within the parameters of the established policies and procedures of the weight room
- Collaborate with athletics training staff on development and implementation of rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes in collaboration with the sports medicine staff
- Travel with basketball teams to away games when appropriate
- Meet with prospective student athletes and parents about the strength and conditioning program
- Implement and enforce all policies and procedures of the weight room
- Keep the weight room clean and organized at all times
- Maintain order and safety in the weight room
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repair
- Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned
