Unreal Engine Software Engineer

Overview:

A world leader in professional aviation training and simulation, is seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer with deep knowledge of Unreal Engine and performance optimization to join its immersive technology team. This role will support a Level D simulator project recognized as the most sophisticated and accurate flight simulation level available. Only a select few organizations in the country develop and maintain Level D systems, and this is your opportunity to be part of a world-class innovation team.

Project Status:

You'll be joining a mid-phase project with a working prototype already in place. The simulator under development is for commercial use first, with a military version planned in later stages ensuring a multi-year runway for growth and impact.

Team Environment:

You'll be backfilling a key team member on a high-caliber team of 14 15 engineers. Collaboration, ownership, and high-performance coding are key in this agile, fast-moving environment.

Preferred Industry Backgrounds:

  • Gaming (with advanced coding experience)
  • Defense or Aerospace simulation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and enhance simulation capabilities in Unreal Engine
  • Optimize rendering and simulation performance for real-time training use cases
  • Integrate complex data sets into immersive, physics-based simulation environments
  • Contribute to system testing and troubleshooting within a Level D simulator architecture
  • Participate in iterative software development using best practices in coding, performance tuning, and debugging

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally in simulation, gaming, or defense sectors
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Unreal Engine
  • Proven track record of performance optimization in complex software systems
  • Solid knowledge of C++ and real-time systems
  • Ability to work hybrid in St. Louis (preferred), or in-office/hybrid at Tulsa or Dallas locations
  • Must work without sponsorship

Interview Process:

  • Round 1: Phone interview (1 hour)
  • Round 2: Technical team interview (1.5 hours)
