Who We’re Looking For
Toyota’s Accounting department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely month-end close process for Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB); a highly regulated banking environment. TFSB is supervised by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) and the State of Nevada Financial Institutions Division and is subject to the consumer compliance standards and regulations of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This position will partner with Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting to implement and operationalize accounting and reporting rules under US GAAP and globally under international financial reporting standards (IFRS). This will require staying current on new guidance, providing interpretive guidance on new and evolving rules in a fast-growing environment where new rules come into scope, due to rapid Bank growth, and ensuring Control design remains effective.

What You’ll Be Doing
Operational & General Accounting & Analysis, and related Controls & Governance:
- Lead the timely and accurate recording of business operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, IFRS, and other complex regulatory requirements such as the FDIC.
- Own the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of sound FDICIA controls and processes to adequately support accounting results, including oversight of shared services controls that Accounting relies upon.
- Own results and support team members in the preparation of all accounting activities, including oversight of monthly general ledger close process, and addressing complex technical accounting issues impacting our business, including resolution of audit findings by both external and internal auditors, as well as regulators.
- Utilize the GL system (SAP) to automate and ensure SAP functionality is maximized for the bank. Become the SAP SME for the bank
- Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance and work with the business to identify potential accounting issues of bank products
- Accountable for the timely and accurate presentation of financial information and analyses
- Direct team members and provide business insight in the completion of quarterly and annual reporting activities:
- Support quarterly Call Report and TMC CONETs reporting packages and related schedules. If there is a new accounting position or new product, work with Financial Reporting to determine the appropriate treatment on the CONETs reporting package.
- Review and issue annual TFSB financial statements and footnotes
- Coordinate and own the relationship for the interim and year-end audit procedures performed by external & internal auditors, as well as the FDIC regulators.
- Interface with business operations regarding new business initiatives, including but not limited to the following activities:
- Assessing the accounting treatment, reporting disclosures, internal controls (FDICIA and SOX controls), and systems processes associated with new initiatives;
- Reviewing documents and providing recommendations to management regarding accounting and operational considerations, risks, or issues;
- Monitors new accounting guidance on an on-going basis to determine impact to the bank.
- Influence outcomes to ensure risk of changes to the Bank and Accounting are minimized or managed
- Own TFSB Accounting policies, an understand underlying systems, and processes to ensure implementation of new requirements is well documented, up to date, and accurate.
- Lead and direct team members in the implementation of special projects and Enterprise- wide initiatives as they relate to the bank operations
- As business needs continue to evolve and grow, take a lead role in developing, implementing, and reporting more meaningful business measures, including the development of analytics.
- Continuously look for opportunities to strengthen and/or streamline existing accounting policies and procedures. Recommend process improvements and/or changes in accounting treatment as appropriate.
- Lead Automation efforts for the Controllership to minimize manual processes, mitigate risks, and create capacity for value added activities
- Establish and manage performance expectations for team members and provide growth and development opportunities
- Deliver real time feedback to team members on performance and developmental needs, including formal quarterly development & coaching discussions.
- Support team members through changes impacting their areas of responsibility and the overall Bank Controllership
- Regularly review organizational structure and scope of team responsibility to maximize productivity and improve processes
- Set high-level priorities and direction for team
- Actively Engage in department-wide Talent Planning and Calibration efforts
- Develop team member skills and create a path for team members to gain experience through value-add opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Certified Public Accountant with public accounting experience
- 5+ years of Accounting & Reporting experience in the Banking or Captive Finance industry
- Public accounting experience with a national firm
- Strong accounting understanding and expertise
- Experience in explaining technical accounting issues (written or orally)
- People leadership experience with proven ability to grow, develop, and inspire a team
- Strong analytical skills, initiative; ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Master’s degree in Accounting
- Working knowledge of Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HEPM) and SAP preferred
