Senior HVAC Data Center Engineer
Tasked with the oversight and strategic implementation of data center infrastructure systems. They are responsible for designing robust power distribution and HVAC systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency in high-demand environments. This role involves project management, advanced troubleshooting, and optimization of facility operations, as well as guiding and mentoring junior engineers. The senior engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of the data center s physical infrastructure, aligning with the organization s long-term technological objectives.
Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical systems and power distribution: Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power flow analysis, and load balancing.
  • Proficiency in HVAC design and climate control optimization: Skills in thermal dynamics, airflow management, and environmental control systems.
  • Experience with emergency response protocols for infrastructure incidents: Ability to develop and execute disaster recovery plans, risk assessments, and business continuity strategies.
  • Project management expertise for facility expansions and upgrades: Proficient in leading cross-functional project teams, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety standards compliance: Understanding of OSHA regulations, fire safety codes, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership abilities for junior engineers: Capacity to guide, train, and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams: Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation capabilities, and stakeholder management.

Machines and Equipment:

  • Computer Workstation: 30 hours
  • Basic hand tools: 5 hours

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.
  • Ability to move (light, moderate, or heavy) objects.
  • Some lifting, carrying, and/or moving of materials.
  • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving.
  • Must participate in after-hours, on-call rotation.

Other Requirements and Factors:

  • This position may direct and/or evaluate the work of others.
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and client regulations and procedures. (this is required for all positions)
  • Persons in this position are considered essential when the emergency declared, office closure/cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.
  • Works to cover shifts, or take emergency call, on evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. (this is required for all positions)
