Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Kubernetes Administrator with strong expertise in managing AWS EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in managing complex, high-capacity Kubernetes clusters for microservices, OpenSearch, ELK stack, APIC, and HCL Commerce. This role requires a strong background in troubleshooting, administration, triaging, and architecting scalable solutions within AWS environments.

As an Onsite Kubernetes Admin, you will play a critical role in leading and supporting the architecture, administration, and optimization of our EKS clusters, ensuring high availability and performance while also leading new projects and enhancements. Your contributions will directly impact the stability, scalability, and efficiency of mission-critical applications and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kubernetes Administration:
    • Manage and maintain AWS EKS clusters, ensuring their health, availability, and performance.
    • Deploy, scale, and upgrade Kubernetes workloads, including microservices-based applications.
    • Troubleshoot issues across the Kubernetes platform, networking, storage, and security.
  • Cluster Management:
    • Administer complex, high-capacity clusters on AWS EKS, managing their scalability, availability, and performance.
    • Perform daily operational tasks such as patch management, logging, monitoring, and backups for EKS clusters and related services.
  • Application and Service Deployment:
    • Work with development teams to deploy and manage applications running in the Kubernetes environment (e.g., microservices, OpenSearch, ELK stack, APIC, HCL Commerce).
    • Ensure smooth integration of EKS clusters with various services, such as logging systems (ELK), search engines (OpenSearch), and commerce platforms (HCL Commerce).
  • Troubleshooting and Triage:
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex issues in the EKS clusters, including application failures, performance degradation, and service disruptions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to quickly diagnose and resolve critical production issues.
  • Architectural Leadership:
    • Lead architectural discussions and decisions related to EKS, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.
    • Design and implement best practices for security, scalability, and high availability in AWS.
    • Support new project architecture, migrations, and enhancements to ensure optimal configuration of cloud and Kubernetes services.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Work closely with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to ensure efficient operations and deployment strategies.
    • Create, maintain, and share documentation related to EKS cluster configurations, deployments, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Automation & Optimization:
    • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline the deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters.
    • Continuously evaluate and optimize the performance and cost efficiency of EKS and related cloud services.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Overall Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience with 5+ years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes and AWS EKS environments.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of AWS EKS and managing Kubernetes clusters at scale.
    • Strong experience in deploying and managing microservices, OpenSearch, ELK stack, APIC, and HCL Commerce within Kubernetes environments.
    • Expertise in containerization using Docker, Helm charts, and Kubernetes-native tools.
    • Proficient in infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Troubleshooting and Performance Tuning:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues within Kubernetes clusters, cloud services, and application stacks.
  • Cloud Infrastructure:
    • In-depth understanding of AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.
    • Familiarity with other cloud-native tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Istio for monitoring and observability.
  • Scripting and Automation:
    • Strong experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Shell.
    • Ability to automate repetitive tasks and optimize cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications:
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
