
Inpatient Coder
Location: Remote - Role supports a healthcare facility in the Northeastern U.S.
Employment Type: Contract
Description:
* This role involves the accurate assignment of diagnosis-related group (DRG) codes and related classifications for inpatient records.
* Responsibilities include participation in regular training sessions, maintaining compliance with coding standards, and supporting various departments through accurate and timely coding practices.
* The coder is also responsible for resolving documentation issues, supporting claim integrity, and ensuring proper billing processes are followed.
Required Skills:
* Experience with a major Electronic Health Record system and a coding software platform
* At least 2 years of professional inpatient coding experience
* Proficient in DRG, procedural coding, and evaluation codes
* Knowledge and application of ICD-10 for both diagnostic and procedural classifications
* Active certification such as CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
* Ability to support inpatient coding, and assist with outpatient records when needed
Desired Skills:
* Familiarity with both inpatient and outpatient claim resolution processes
* Comfort with handling follow-ups on delayed billing cases
* Experience supporting various healthcare departments with coding inquiries
Compensation:
Pay Range: $35.28-$50.40 Per HR
