THIS IS AN ONSITE WORK POSITION

Position: Sr. Java Developer

Education: Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology major, or equivalent work experience

Certification: Oracle certification(s)

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  1. Experience with Java application development, leveraging frameworks such as Struts/Tiles, Struts 2, Servlets/JSP, and JPA/Hibernate
  2. Experience with Oracle databases, possessing the capability to develop DML and DDL statements to produce very complex queries and PL/SQL database objects, including both DML and DDL
  3. Experience with Javascript frameworks, such as AngularJS, NodeJS, React or JQuery
  4. Experience as a full-stack developer
  5. Experience with responsive design frameworks, preferably Bootstrap
  6. Experience using code repositories, preferably Git
  7. Experience using continuous integration tools, preferably Jenkins
  8. Knowledge of relational database designs
  9. Knowledge of object-oriented design methodologies
  10. Knowledge of Information Systems Development Methodology (ISDM)
  11. Knowledge of database security, including role-based security
  12. Knowledge and experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  13. Ability to be creative, to use sound judgment, and to display foresight to identify potential problems and design/specifications and assigned application software systems
  14. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  15. Ability to work independently
  16. Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments
  17. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
  18. Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, oral and written communication skills
  19. Experience with database query tools (i.e., TOAD, SQL Developer, SQL Navigator)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

1. Familiarity with Agile development, specifically Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban.
2. Experience with Virtualization, preferably Docker
3. Experience implementing GIS (Geographic Information System) applications
4. Experience developing web services, preferably RESTful web services
5. Experience with environmental regulatory business processes and practices

Responsibilities:

1. Provide maintenance, enhancement and support for a variety of the agency s business applications.
2. Assisting in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.
3. Research and document requirements of program users.
4. Writing, translating and coding software programs and applications per specifications.
5. Assisting in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
6. Working with network administrators, systems analysts and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
7. Providing mentoring and guidance to junior programmers
