Under general supervision instructs students in digital art skills such as creating and designing graphic material for use as ornamentation, illustration, advertising, or cosmetics on manufactured materials.
Essential Functions
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district that pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of school policies, procedures, and operations. Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies used in daily activities. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties. Ability to anticipate work to be completed and to complete work without the need for direct supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records and information. Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, teachers, students, and the general public.
Working Conditions
Conducts duties in a classroom and laboratory environment. Requires constant attention working with students. Physical demands of laboratory work require frequent lifting/moving of items weighing up to fifty pounds. Occasional travel is required; possible overnight travel required. Job requires the operation of general office and technology equipment.
Responsibility
Supervises students in classroom and laboratory situations. Responsible for classroom materials and supplies budget (if applicable). Responsible for maintenance and inventory of equipment; responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions.

Essential Functions
- Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One.
- Effectively interacts, communicates and collaborates with students, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders to foster student learning.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive learning and working environment.
- Teaches concepts and skills in digital art including such areas as studying traditional, period, and contemporary design styles and motifs to obtain perspective; integrating market trends, design knowledge, and limitations presented by materials and methods; creating, modifying, and changing design to achieve desired effect, etc.
- Demonstrates a variety of 21st century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
- Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st century global, knowledge-based economy.
- Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, competency forms, discipline reports, etc.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Organizes classroom and laboratory areas for daily instruction.
- Selects, requests, and maintains an inventory of instructional aides, technology tools, equipment, and supplies; maintains inventory of equipment, supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, equipment and tools.
- Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; analyzes assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap; evaluates contributions in group projects.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Develops students’ creative and practical problem-solving skills related to relevant materials and processes of the industry.
- Instructs and coaches students in the rudiments of obtaining and retaining a job; stays informed of current entry job requirements; completes job references for students when requested.
- Recruits professionals in the business field to serve on the annual advisory committee; meets semi-annually to solicit input from community partners regarding current issues and employment opportunities.
- Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, activities, etc.; issues reports in accordance with school board policy to inform parents of students’ progress.
- Actively serves as a SkillsUSA advisor in preparing students for competition and leadership opportunities; chaperones trips to conferences and events.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Technical/Bachelor’s degree in graphic art or related area; a minimum of three years graphic design or advertising experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Valid South Carolina teaching certification
