Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist with expertise in Kronos/UKG payroll systems to manage payroll operations for over 1,500 employees across multiple states. This role will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll, compliance with federal and state regulations, and continuous improvement of payroll processes. The Payroll Manager will also support employee inquiries, assist with audits, and supervise payroll team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Assist and support Payroll Manager with end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, validating, and processing payroll data for over 1,500 employees across multiple states.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws, including wage and hour laws.
  • Reporting: Prepare and analyze payroll reports, including labor distribution, tax liabilities, and payroll forecasts.
  • Systems Management: Oversee Kronos/UKG payroll systems, ensuring functionality, accuracy, and timely updates.
  • Employee Support: Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, benefits, and timekeeping.
  • Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor payroll assistants to ensure efficient processing and problem-solving.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of payroll operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll management with specific expertise in Kronos/UKG systems and multi-state payroll processing.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Kronos/UKG payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.

Key Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of payroll regulations, including federal and state tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership experience in supervising payroll teams and ensuring exceptional client service.
