We are seeking a Director of Manufacturing Operations to lead and optimize the manufacturing strategy and day-to-day operations at a state-of-the-art facility. In this high-impact leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of production, quality, engineering, EH&S, and supply chain to drive efficiency and support the company’s rapid growth. You will be a key contributor to the executive team, translating the organization’s vision into operational excellence on the factory floor. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the overall manufacturing strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals and growth plans.
- Operational Oversight: Lead and manage production managers and teams across Quality, Production Engineering, EH&S, Logistics/Distribution, and Supply Chain, maintaining on-time delivery and high-quality standards.
- Process Improvement: Implement and refine processes, technologies, and methodologies (including ERP systems) that maximize operational efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Resource Planning: Forecast and allocate resources (equipment, facilities, materials, and workforce) to meet current production needs and scale for future demand.
- Organizational Development: Design and maintain an effective organizational structure for the manufacturing organization, and champion change management initiatives to support continuous improvement.
- Team Development: Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring cross-training and professional development for production and support staff. Provide strong leadership that encourages innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred), with 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations management (including overseeing production and warehouse/supply chain teams).
- Industry Expertise: Proven track record in a high-technology manufacturing environment (e.g., industrial equipment or advanced manufacturing), ideally within a growing or entrepreneurial company. Experience bringing new products from development into full-scale production is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and organizational abilities, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. Able to balance strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving on the shop floor.
- Systems & Process Knowledge: Demonstrated success implementing and utilizing ERP/MRP systems and other operational tools for production, inventory, and quality management. Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly grasp and integrate new technologies and processes, with familiarity in supply chain management, warehouse operations, and quality control best practices.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to collaborate effectively across departments (Engineering, R&D, Sales, etc.) and with external partners/vendors to achieve goals.
- Work Ethic & Integrity: High energy, “can-do” attitude with a strong work ethic and unwavering integrity. Demonstrated commitment to success and ability to instill confidence and motivation in your team.
- Other Requirements: U.S. citizenship (required for this role) and willingness to relocate to (or be based in) the beautiful community of Butte, Montana (relocation assistance available). This position is on-site and requires a leader who is ready to join the team.
