Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator to support our client in Woodlawn, MD. This is a highly specialized, onsite position requiring advanced expertise in Linux and Unix system administration, particularly in Red Hat and IBM pSeries (AIX) environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, test, and production environments
- Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system uptime
- Write and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python
- Configure and manage Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and associated RHEL ecosystem tools
- Ensure compliance with security policies and collaborate with security teams
- Implement and manage NFS mount points, backups, and disaster recovery plans
- Provide technical support to application teams and interface with helpdesk teams
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and troubleshooting procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident resolution activities
- Configure cron jobs for systems and application tasks
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) – Must provide certification number
- 10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator
- 10+ years of experience administering Unix (AIX) on IBM pSeries
- 15+ years of overall experience in the Information Technology (IT) industry
Preferred Experience:
- Complex networked systems and enterprise-level environments
- Administration of:
- Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Database Servers
- Progress 4GL / OpenEdge
- Apache Web Servers
- vSphere-hosted RHEL environments
- Rubrik backup systems and Oracle backups
- PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI, CVS
- Red Hat performance tuning, partitioning, and load balancing
- 24/7 production support and high-availability environments
- Application development and Red Hat enterprise support
- Electronic Imaging environments
