As Plant Operations Director, you oversee the engineering operations of the Plant Operations Department, ensuring alignment with the missions, values and objectives of Cleveland Clinic. In this position, you will plan, organize, direct and control services for the maintenance of buildings, ground and utility/biomedical engineering for Weston main campus and off-site buildings, including the Krupa Center, Weston Family Health Center, WPB Health and Wellness Center. Your efforts directly maintain the Safety Management Program, helping dramatically reduce the risk of injury to patients, staff and visitors. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:30AM - 3:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Assure compliance with applicable codes and regulations as applied to buildings and services provided at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
  • Serve as a member of the Environment of Care Committee.
  • Ensure all departmental work complies with acceptable codes and standards of JCAHO, AHCA, NFPA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Inspect the appearance of the facility and grounds and operation of all the equipment routinely to ensure the meeting or exceeding of established standards.
  • Implement and maintain the Maintenance Program on all plant equipment and systems at all Cleveland Clinic Florida facilities.
  • Perform routine inspections and correct all deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in establishing the order or priorities of all construction/renovation and special projects to minimize disruption of facility services.
  • Manage all in-house construction/renovations and other special projects as assigned by the CAO.
  • Serve as facility Safety Officer and stay accountable for the integrity and maintenance of all fire safety systems and equipment with the facilities.
  • Maintain all required documentation related to JCAHO, AHCA and hospital policy and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO, AHCA, NFPA, OSHA, State and County regulations and correct any deficiencies within the recommended time.
  • Implement all valid inspection recommendations within the recommended time.
  • Enforce standards of performance using performance management processes to develop and correct staff performance when applicable.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field OR ten years of experience in upper level Facilities Management
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, AHCA, NFPA, OSHA and other regulatory agency codes and standards
  • Sound knowledge of all areas of the facility, equipment and systems
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Eight years of experience in plant engineering with at least three years in a managerial capacity in a large hospital or other applicable large plant operation

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Management (CHPM), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) or Professional Engineer (PE) Certifications
  • Master’s Degree

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.) to lift supplies and equipment; frequent prolonged standing and walking with occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility required.
  • Special Environmental Demands: May be subjected to injury from moving parts of equipment and exposure to hot or noisy equipment.
  • Additionally may be subjected to hazards from electrical, mechanical, power equipment and exposure to toxic chemicals, infectious diseases.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $44.53

Maximum hourly: $67.92
