Position Overview: This position provides quality assurance support services across the enterprise. The quality assurance specialist serves the organization by assisting, resourcing, and performing the tasks and duties of the pre-survey program, pre-survey follow up, and special assignments focused on quality improvement objectives. - As a quality assurance specialist, you will possess and demonstrate passive and active listening skills to fully understand others and incorporate the concerns voiced at the point-of-care into your solutions related to quality of care, quality of life, and sound operational practices applicable to facility level requirements across a multi-state enterprise.
- You will possess strong writing skills, verbal and written communication skills, and remain engaged in all forms of communication affecting every role within the organization.
- The quality assurance specialist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on CMS guidelines, CDC guidelines, Individual state regulatory bodies and their regulations that impact healthcare and special focus on post-acute care. This role possesses the skills to serve as a member of a team of likeminded professionals who integrate thoughtful content into discussions that may evolve into processes, policies, procedures and operationalize these elements across the enterprise and individual communities.
- You are required to effectively communicate horizontally and vertically across the organization, accurately articulating, writing, and expressing your concerns and interests to the director of quality assurance or other leadership if your findings require you to escalate the material into a timely solution.
- This position requires dynamic management skills, these skills will be used repetitively, include variance depending on circumstance, and may require innovative or creative pivoting by you in order to create a safe outcome. You will be required to be flexible in your work, duties, and schedule to fulfill the expectations of this role.
- This job will require extensive travel, one (1) or more than one (1) consecutive overnight assignments on a routine basis, meaning, you will cover multiple states, travel, and stay in accommodations such as a hotel many times in a calendar year.
- The quality assurance specialist collaborates with every role within the organization. This collaboration may vary in cadence, meaning, you will interact with culinary services weekly while interfacing with compliance only once a month, as an example.
- You will be proficient in escalating your concerns, observations, and recommendations to the correct roles. This communication expectation varies, there will be immediate concerns, non-urgent concerns, and patternistic concerns, all of which requires you to possess skills of patience, asserting yourself, creating accountability, a sense of urgency, resulting in a solution. Your director will serve as your immediate remedy to empower absolve risks or barriers
- As director of quality assurance, you and your immediate team will work interprofessionally to innovate the pre-survey process and quality assurance program by making the department, staff, and service points excellent and leading standards across the post-acute-care (PAC) space. You and your team will provide pre-survey follow up to ensure accountability and process improvement and you will engage in special supportive activities as needed to reduce risks and ensure quality. An example of special supportive activities may include find and fix challenging opportunities in a community that needs additional support for a brief or extended period of time.

- The quality assurance specialist will interprofessionally collaborate with other stakeholders to design, build, maintain, and orchestrate an executive quality assurance program. The executive quality assurance program will illuminate opportunities, barriers, and successes occurring across the enterprise. This program will be designed to maintain a legacy of work performed during your tenor in this position.
- Develop goals and objectives for the department; motivate and manage care team members to accomplish the same.
- Successfully completes the facility required training, participate in the development and delivery of educational content that elucidates your work, enriches the profession, and sustains improvements generated by your contributions to the operational care model.
- Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Protects residents from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
- Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
- Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan.
- Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
- Performs other tasks as assigned and within scope of practice.
- Directly responsible to perform pre-survey audits, find and fix projects, pre-survey follow up, and special support projects as they assume priority.
- Oversee, manage and lead third (3rd) party partnerships if any of these are applicable and either overlap into your work or your services are needed to manage.
- Oversee the pre-survey calendar/schedule, resources allocated to completing a thorough assessment, and orchestrate resources from your team and other professionals throughout the enterprise.
- Direct oversight and management of quality assurance at the community level and enterprise.
- Schedule, staff, and conduct follow-up reviews for results that are concerning to verify improvements have been achieved and risks were mitigated.
- Develop meaningful relationships within all roles, responsibilities, and levels to ensure timely action and accuracy is executed to ensure safety and quality.
- Preparation and ongoing management of fiscal budgets and parameters impacting quality assurance.
- Knowledge of healthcare management principles, practices, and procedures.

- Ability and skills to direct, instruct and advise team members.
