Metrics LLC is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer as we compete for a contract with the Government Publishing Office (GPO). We will provide support for new report development, existing report sustainment, and report maintenance services. This contract focuses on developing and maintaining business reporting tools using Power BI and Business Objects. The GPO requires expert data management and visualization skills to deliver critical business intelligence that supports GPO's mission of authenticating, disseminating, and preserving official U.S. Government information products. This position will be on-site in Washington, DC to support the GPO environment. Work can also be performed remotely per GPO’s IT Security regulations and telework policies.

Metrics LLC is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer as we compete for a contract with the Government Publishing Office (GPO). We will provide support for new report development, existing report sustainment, and report maintenance services. This contract focuses on developing and maintaining business reporting tools using Power BI and Business Objects. The GPO requires expert data management and visualization skills to deliver critical business intelligence that supports GPO's mission of authenticating, disseminating, and preserving official U.S. Government information products. This position will be on-site in Washington, DC to support the GPO environment. Work can also be performed remotely per GPO’s IT Security regulations and telework policies.
Responsibilities
- Develop new Power BI reports by identifying required data and its relationships within enterprise systems including Oracle Federal Financials, Azure-based .NET systems, and EFI Pace production management systems.
- Coordinate with the enterprise service bus team to establish and synchronize data feeds to the Synapse Data Lake.
- Add fields to semantic models in Power BI when data already exists within the Data Lake.
- Work iteratively with business unit staff to develop reports until they are accepted and pushed to production.
- Maintain existing Power BI and Business Objects reports to ensure continuous functionality and data accuracy.
- Provide in-depth subject matter expertise in Power BI and Business Objects for new report development and maintenance
- Collaborate with Oracle/GBIS suite of products to extract information that satisfies business needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data connectivity, report performance, and user access
- Document report specifications, data sources, and report development processes
- Respond to user requirements and service tickets through the GPO's Service Now assignment tracking system
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
- Minimum 5 years experience of demonstrated experience with Power BI report development and maintenance
- In-depth understanding of both Power BI and Business Objects reporting tools.
- Experience working with Oracle database and SQL server database backends.
- Ability to pass a background check and meet suitability requirements for working on government programs.
- Experience with Oracle Federal Financials and Azure-based .NET systems.
- Knowledge of Synapse Data Lake and semantic modeling in Power BI.
- Previous experience supporting federal government reporting needs
- Familiarity with EFI Pace production management systems
- Experience with iterative development approaches and user acceptance testing
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts and best practices in business intelligence
