Job Description

Job Summary

Lead and enhance payroll operations through strategic oversight, process improvements, and compliance management. This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong payroll expertise, confidence, and a proactive approach to driving efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in payroll processes. Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with regulations, and seamless integration with HR and Finance functions while continuously identifying opportunities for optimization.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement best-in-class payroll practices that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Lead change management efforts related to payroll policies, system upgrades, and new processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline payroll workflows and reduce manual processes. Identify and implement automation solutions to enhance payroll efficiency and reduce errors. Reconcile payroll data, audit results, and resolve discrepancies to maintain data integrity.
  • Continuously evaluate payroll processes, systems, and technologies, identifying opportunities for efficiency enhancement and cost savings.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on payroll matters, providing data-driven insights and strategic recommendations. Act as the primary payroll liaison between HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure payroll tax filings, garnishments, benefits deductions, and other payroll-related transactions are processed accurately and timely. Manage internal payroll audits and controls to mitigate risks and ensure data integrity.
  • Evaluate and enhance payroll reporting capabilities for better data transparency and decision-making.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Education And Experience

  • 7+ years of payroll experience, with a strong background in payroll operations, compliance, and process optimization.
  • Deep knowledge of payroll tax regulations, multi-state payroll processing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in driving payroll process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with leading payroll systems (e.g., Workday, OSV)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with confidence in presenting recommendations to senior management.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is highly desirable.
