Job Description:

Administrator consultant. The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize the client s Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.

Scope Of Work:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
  • Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.
  • Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
  • Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
  • Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
  • Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
  • Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.

Resource Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator certification.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
  • 10+ years administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems, 15+ years in IT.
  • Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.
  • Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below:
    • Oracle WebLogic Servers
    • Oracle Database Servers
    • Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge
    • Apache Web Servers
    • vSphere hosted RHEL Servers.
    • Rubrik backup systems.
    • Oracle Database backups.
    • PeopleSoft
    • Mobius
    • Elastic Search
    • Oracle OBI
    • CVS (Concurrent Version System)
  • Red Hat performance tuning.
  • Load balancing, partitioning, back-up/recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Working in an environment that requires 24/7 system availability.
  • Application development.
  • Red Hat Support.
  • Electronic Imaging Support.

Place of Performance:

  • Hybrid Setting: Two days remote, three days on-site in Annapolis, MD.
  • On-Site Support: Must be able to report on-site within 24 hours if required.

Schedule & Coordination:

  • Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EDT, with flexibility for extended coverage.
  • Training: A two to four-week training period will be provided.
