Director of Business Development
Job Summary:
The Director of Business Development will be responsible for driving strategic growth and expanding client partnerships within the personal care contract manufacturing space. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, nurturing key client relationships, and collaborating cross-functionally to bring new product development projects to market. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the beauty and personal care industry, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in B2B sales or commercial roles within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to drive sales growth and customer acquisition.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with beauty and personal care brands, from indie to prestige and mass.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, acting as a strategic partner and advisor.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract discussions, and pricing strategy in collaboration with Finance and Operations.
- Coordinate with R&D, Project Management, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless onboarding and execution of client projects.
- Track industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity to inform business strategy.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and client meetings to promote capabilities and services.
- Monitor KPIs and sales targets, reporting on business development performance to senior leadership.
- Develop marketing collateral and proposals in coordination with technical teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Chemistry, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in business development or sales in personal care, cosmetics, or contract manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of product development life cycle, especially in skincare, haircare, body care and OTC products.
- Strong network within the personal care industry.
- Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience managing high-value client accounts and closing multi-million dollar deals.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with GMP, FDA regulations,MOCRA and other industry compliance requirements.
- CRM and project tracking system proficiency (e.g., Salesforce, Monday.com, etc)
- Ability to lead and mentor junior business development or sales staff.
