Azure Data Engineering Architect - w2 role
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Engineering Lead/Architect with a strong background in SQL, Azure Data Services, and data modeling. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and big data technologies, and be capable of driving both the technical execution and team coordination in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, dimensional data models, and schemas.
Lead and contribute to the design and development of data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric.
Work with Azure SQL, ADLS (Azure Data Lake Storage), and other Azure cloud data services.
Collaborate with offshore teams, managing work distribution and ensuring alignment on project goals and deliverables.
Provide architectural guidance and coding leadership role split is approximately 50% hands-on development/design, 50% coordination and stakeholder alignment.
Apply best practices in data warehousing and engineering, including performance tuning and security.
Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, present solutions, and ensure delivery quality.
Utilize tools like Databricks, Spark, and PySpark as needed, though Azure experience is prioritized.
Key Skills & Experience:
Minimum 12+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on SQL and data modeling.
Solid experience in data warehousing principles, design patterns, and implementation.
Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Services, including:
Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Azure Synapse
Azure SQL
Microsoft Fabric
ADLS (Azure Data Lake Storage)
Good exposure to Databricks, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
Experience in leading and coordinating onsite-offshore teams.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile, and dynamic work environment.
