The Position:
Position Title: SAP Solution Manager ALM Support Architect
Location: Hybrid; Remote Off-Site and On-Site in Middletown, PA
Duration: 30+ Month Project
We are seeking an SAP Solution Manager ALM Support Architect to add to our team assisting the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) Information Technology (IT) Department. As an SAP Solution Manager ALM Support Architect, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of SAP Solution Manager s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) suite. You will partner closely with SAP Basis, Development, QA, Project Managers, and business stakeholders to ensure end-to-end stability, performance, and alignment with best practices across the SAP landscape.
Architectural Design and Implementation;
- Lead design and deployment of SAP Solution Manager ALM modules (e.g., IT Service Management, Change Request Management, Test Suite, Focused Build/Insights).
- Define integration points between Solution Manager and SAP/nonSAP systems (e.g., ECC/S/4HANA, thirdparty ALM tools, and monitoring tools).
ALM Support and Optimization;
- Provide L3 support for ALM processes: ChaRM, Solution Documentation, Test Management, and Project Management.
- Troubleshoot complex issues: process failures, transport errors, system performance, and authorizations.
- Optimize existing configurations to enhance system performance, stability, and user experience.
Governance and Best Practices;
- Establish and enforce ALM governance frameworks, naming conventions, and transport strategies.
- Develop and maintain ALM-related policies, standards, and documentation.
- Conduct regular system health checks and performance reviews; propose enhancements.
Upgrades and Continuous Improvement;
- Plan and execute Solution Manager upgrades, support packs, and enhancement package implementations.
- Stay current on SAP ALM roadmap; evaluate and pilot new ALM features (e.g., Focused Build, Focused Insights).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process automation where feasible.
Training and Knowledge Transfer;
- Develop training materials and conduct workshops for support teams and endusers.
- Mentor junior consultants and administrators on ALM best practices.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management;
- Liaise with business process owners to align ALM processes with organizational goals.
- Coordinate with SAP support and external partners for escalations and expert consultations.
The Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- SAP Solution Manager certification (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate SAP Solution Manager)
- ITIL Foundation certification
- 7+ Years of handson experience with SAP Solution Manager
- 4+ Years of handson experience with ALM Modules
- Proven track record of designing and supporting ChaRM, Test Suite, Solution Documentation, and Project Management
- Experience integrating Solution Manager with other SAP modules (ECC/S/4HANA) and thirdparty tools (e.g., Jira, HP ALM)
- Demonstrated ability to lead upgrades and manage support pack implementations
- Prior exposure to Focused Build and Focused Insights is a plus
- Deep understanding of SAP transport management and change request processes
- Proficiency in SAP Solution Manager configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
- Good knowledge of SAP Authorizations and Security concepts
- Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager diagnostics and monitoring tools
- Scripting or basic programming skills (ABAP, Shell, PowerShell) advantageous
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- Detailoriented with a focus on quality and bestpractice adherence
