Position Overview

Sutter Health is one of California’s most comprehensive healthcare systems and one of the nation’s largest, generating approximately $18 billion in revenues. Headquartered in Sacramento, Sutter Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system committed to health equity, community partnerships and innovative, high-quality patient care. Sutter’s 57,000+ employees, 12,000+ aligned physicians, and 2,000 advanced practice clinicians serve more than 3.5 million patients through its network of hospitals, medical foundations, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent and walk-in care centers, telehealth, home health and hospice services.

The Vice President (VP) of Business & Corporate Development is a senior leadership role that combines strategic growth, M&A, and business development efforts across Sutter Health. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, this individual will be a core member of the Strategy Leadership Team, responsible for leading business development strategies, partnerships, physician acquisitions, and M&A initiatives across the system. The VP will drive Sutter Health’s system-wide growth by identifying and pursuing strategic acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and innovative business opportunities, including physician network expansion, ambulatory services, and other non-acute services.

In this dual-focus role, the VP will oversee the business development and outreach of service lines and geographic expansions across the entire Sutter Health system while ensuring the seamless integration of all growth initiatives with the system's clinical and operational strategies. The VP may also have oversight and responsibility for ASC, employer, and geographic business development and outreach in addition to clinical service lines. The VP will work closely with leadership teams, including finance, legal, clinical, and operational teams, to identify high-priority growth opportunities, manage due diligence, and support post-transaction integration.

Success and outcomes will be measured through strategies, tactics and plan to grow top line revenue and create revenue diversification strategies for continued long term growth.

This position requires a seasoned healthcare growth minded executive capable of building a team for execution as this function will be a new competency for the system.
