Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is at the beginning of a long path toward building a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive (EDI) institution. We are looking for individuals, at all levels of the institution, who are interested in joining us on this journey of intentionality and public accountability. This path broadens our workforce (board, staff, volunteers), expands our artist selection and acquisition practice as well as strengthens our internal and external communication systems, networks and norms. Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is seeking two Seasonal Curatorial Collection Interns to assist with the care of our outdoor sculpture collection. This hands-on opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in art conservation, museum studies, or collections management. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. About the Internship: Duration: 8 weeks (June 23 - August 12) Schedule: Mondays & Tuesdays, 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch break Compensation: $15.49 per hour Location: Primarily outdoors in the sculpture park What will you do: Work hands-on with the GFS Curatorial team to care for outdoor sculptures, including cleaning and applying protective finishes. Learn about sculpture materials, fabrication techniques, and preventive conservation practices. Observe and document changes in artwork conditions to support long-term preservation efforts. Contributes to routine maintenance to help mitigate environmental impacts on sculptures. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including direct sunlight and high temperatures. Engage in physically active work, including crouching, kneeling, reaching, repetitive hand and arm motions, lifting and rolling hoses, and occasionally working from heights. Collaborate with a fellow intern guided by the GFS Registrar and reporting to the Director of Collections & Exhibitions. What We're Looking For: Passion for art conservation, museum collections, or related fields. A team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively. Strong attention to detail and observational skills. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform hands-on conservation tasks. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Prior experience in sculpture, art handling, or conservation is a plus but not required. Why Join Us? Gain hands-on experience in sculpture conservation and museum collections care. Work directly with professional curatorial staff in a collaborative environment. Develop practical skills that can benefit future careers in the arts, museums, or cultural preservation. Make a tangible impact on the care and preservation of a world-class sculpture collection. GFS is stronger for the diverse ideas, lived experiences, passions and skill sets of our staff. To that end, we offer equal employment opportunities to all persons without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital status, physical or mental disability, parental status, housing status, source of income or military status, in accordance with applicable federal, state and local EEO laws. Interested in applying for an internship, the application deadline is Friday, May 16th for a June 23rd start date.
