Role Overview:

We are looking for a Permitting Specialist to support all aspects of the construction permitting process for various residential development projects. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external jurisdictions to ensure smooth and efficient project progression. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and skilled in managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly are essential for success in this role.

What You'll Do:


  • Manage all permit applications, including preparation, tracking, and coordination of submittals, resubmittals, approvals, and issuances, while serving as a point of contact with jurisdictional agencies. Including all separate clearances.
  • Perform general research to assess permitting requirements and project feasibility for a wide-range of development projects
  • Keep all internal databases and trackers continuously updated
  • Manage communications with internal and external stakeholders on permit statuses and updates, and maintain well-organized, up-to-date permit documentation accessible to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee and track all permitting-related expenses, ensuring accurate processing and record-keeping
  • Complete & present project checklists for all new projects - template for project specific information with specific focus on permitting requirements
  • Manage Business Licenses for Villa’s operation in numerous jurisdictions
  • Reports to Permitting Manager, supports aspects of Permitting Manager’s role



Who You Are:


  • Experience in construction, permitting, and jurisdictional communication, preferred.
  • Highly organized, consistent and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and switch gears quickly with minimal oversight
  • A strong communicator, comfortable interacting with external jurisdictions and internal teams via phone, email, and other platforms
  • A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is eager to improve internal processes
  • Skilled in problem-solving and decision-making, always finding a way forward
  • Receptive to feedback, with the willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement
  • Comfortable working remotely.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Procore, or similar project management tools
  • Previous experience in prefab, modular, or manufactured housing is a plus but not required

The compensation band for this role is $71,013 - $83,545 in California (salary band dependent on location).
