POSITION SUMMARY:This position involves providing part-time assistance in managing cases of truant and problematic youth and their families. It requires using advanced techniques in individual and family support sessions, all under the direct supervision of the Team Supervisor and the Program Director.

What You Will Do

  • Assist the Team Supervisor and Program Director with:
  • Conducting assessments
  • Preparing treatment plans
  • Monitoring school attendance
  • Offering school support
  • Providing case management as appropriate
  • Must have a high level of autonomy
  • Possess moderate to complex job skills
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Assist the Team Supervisor with:
  • Managing a moderate case load
  • Ensuring timely and accurate paperwork and file information
  • Managing interactions with clients, co-workers, interested parties, and supervisors
  • Maintain a moderate range of internal and external contacts
  • Facilitate large groups and manage varied group dynamics
  • Arrive at work on time and ready to work
  • Adhere to EEO compliance and maintain a workplace of dignity and respect
  • Work cooperatively in a group/team setting
  • Show respect to others
  • Take guidance and direction from supervisors
  • Abide by the core values and mission statement of the agency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools
  • Provide case management and support services to assigned truant clients and their families, including:
  • Determining eligibility
  • Intake, assessment, evaluation, and referral
  • Providing transportation
  • Monitoring school attendance
  • Schedule and conduct client visits at convenient locations
  • Schedule and conduct informal and formal contacts with individuals who have information about or an interest in specific clients
  • Maintain contact with assigned schools that initiate truancy/ungovernable referrals
  • Complete documentation related to case management services, including:
  • Contact notes
  • Assessments, testing, screening, intake forms, interview notes
  • Correspondence and statistics
  • Conduct client and family support and education sessions
  • Serve as an advocate for clients, including:
  • Staffing cases in the Truancy Arbitration process
  • Initiating CINS/FINS petitions to the court as necessary
  • Representing YFA and/or the child in court
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, DCF, DJJ, and other agency guidelines
  • Complete client follow-up according to established guidelines
  • Handle crisis calls from clients and non-clients
  • Make presentations about YFA, programs, services, and related issues
  • Participate in meetings and work sessions related to service provision
  • Provide input on changes/enhancements to programs and services
  • Participate in staff meetings (when available)
  • Conduct community outreach programs
  • Participate in required trainings
  • Complete other tasks as assigned to ensure clients receive necessary services and administrative tasks are completed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Program Director

Location: This position will be based in the Polk County area. Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree; with related experience in case management preferred.
