Job Summary

Overall Purpose:

To proactively manage, maintain and enhance a number of business credit relationships, with a view to provide high-quality, credit-related services whilst promoting the Bank’s services, generate new business, safeguard the portfolio’s asset quality and ensuring an adequate return.

Key Responsibilities

The job holder will be responsible for:

  • Having a hands-on approach and commitment to the expansion and success of the business to increase productivity and enable sales targets achievement.
  • Locating areas of improvement and proposing corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities.
  • Managing, monitoring and enhancing a portfolio of relationships from all its various aspects including growth, quality, impairment, arrears management and revenue generation.
  • Analysing the creditworthiness and risk profile of each credit proposal and preparing professional proposals and reviews backed by appropriate recommendations for sanctioning in line with the Bank’s credit policy.
  • Understanding the particular drivers of each company from a financial and business perspective as well as the industry in which company operates.
  • Assessing and reviewing facilities within reasonable timeframes according to the Bank’s Credit Policy and KYC process, detecting divergences and identifying factors to mitigate the risks.
  • Managing the portfolio’s administration aspect to ensure that control measures are maintained at the highest standards through collateral management, perfection of all required security items, customer profile updates, follow-up and regularisation of excesses and arrears, accurate and timely credit grading of accounts, updated financial and other documentation is held on file and constant adherence to covenants.
  • Scrutinising and verifying the conditions of sanction before forwarding the facility letters to customers and always ensuring adherence to these conditions.
  • Utilising the Bank’s enhanced business relationship to promote and generate leads for the sale of Bank’s products thus increasing the non-interest income.
  • Attracting new business to the Bank, fostering new relationships and cross-selling the Bank’s products to top customers to ensure further contribution to the Bank’s bottom line.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the Credit Policy and other related policies and documents, whilst keeping abreast with developments in the economic environment.

In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of Four (4) years’ previous proven experience in a credit area;

Required Education

  • A certification in Credit or Risk Management or related.

Desirable Criteria

  • MQF Level 6 degree in a Business or a financial related subject
