Compensation:

  • Pay range: $43,000-$50,000/year; would be prorated for a part-time position
  • Benefits: For employees contracted for 30 hours per week or more, Thomas MacLaren School pays for 100% of the employee’s base insurance premiums (Health, Dental, Vision, Long-term and Short-term disability, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, and Life insurance) for the base level coverages. No benefits are provided to employees contracted for less than 30 hours per week.


General purpose: To oversee the identification of EL students and oversee EL programming, including ensuring EL services occur in alignment with MacLaren curriculum and pedagogy

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Approx. 10 hrs/week

Identify student who qualify for EL Services

  • Review Home Language Survey (HLS) to determine who to screen


Schedule and Administer EL Assessments

  • Administer or delegate WIDA screener
  • Administer or delegate ACCESS test


Oversee creation of EL plans

  • Write or delegate writing of plans; if delegated, confirm compliance
  • Communicate plan to faculty and parents


Communicate with families

  • Communicate in language needed
  • Communicate throughout identification process
  • Run parent meetings (start and end of the year)


Oversee EL team

  • Create EL teacher schedules
  • Meet with EL team weekly
  • Coordinate translation projects and interpretation needs under DSS and Executive Director
  • May need to act as EL teacher, as needed, to implement plans


EL Programming

  • Coordinate EL programming with Heads of School
    • Work with Heads of School to provide EL training to staff
    • Work with Heads of School to decide who qualifies for Academic hour; ensure student schedules are accurate
  • Update EL Plan
  • Update EL Spreadsheet and work with DSS and Data on submissions
  • Attend IEP/504 meetings as needed
  • Work with DSS and ED on creation and tracking of EL funding

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; ELL certification preferred

Experience: Experience with both ELL population as well as MacLaren pedagogy preferred
