DornerWorks, a leader in embedded systems engineering, is seeking an experienced and talented IT Manager to work in our Grand Rapids office. This individual will ensure our IT infrastructure is kept up to maximize the efficiency of our workforce, the integrity of the information system is maintained, plan and budget for infrastructure upgrades, while also maintaining positive working relationships with the IT team and employees. What you will do:

  • Plan and direct policies related to the company’s IT infrastructure, along with planning any IT system changes.
  • Develop, track and manage the annual IT budget for software, licensing, and hardware.
  • Maintain DornerWorks internal systems and servers, including project management of infrastructure projects, backups and patches.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to increase the efficiency and automation of the IT department, and other relevant internal processes.
  • Monitor security of IT systems. Develop and implement policies that ensure the integrity of the system. Conduct security reviews and penetration testing in accordance with documented processes.
  • Lead companywide cybersecurity efforts, including infrastructure and training for employees.
  • Manage IT team through goals, priorities, communication and performance feedback to maintain communicated levels of internal support.
  • Ensure employees are supported through the timely research and resolution of service requests.
  • Obtain ISSM (Information System Security Manager), working in tandem with our Facility Security Officer on projects and improvement opportunities. Training will be offered and required.


What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related field of study.
  • Experience administering systems, networks, and helpdesk.
  • Experience in Linux.
  • 4+ years of experience working in an IT related field.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to find a path around obstacles.
  • Ability to own your work and results.
  • Willingness and ability to be on-call on weekends approximately one time a month and rotating holidays on call.
  • Unrestricted right to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.


What’s a bonus we’d like to see:

  • Knowledge of CMMC.
  • Active security clearance or experience working with the DOD.
  • ISSM certification.
  • Experience leading a team of IT professionals.
