We are looking for a detail-oriented hands-on IT Operations Manager with a strong focus on desktop support to lead our IT operations team for one of our clients located in Waltham, MA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth functioning of our desktop environment, providing technical support to end-users, and managing overall IT infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise in desktop support with leadership skills to oversee a team of IT professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Desktop Support Management: Manage and provide hands-on support for desktops, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices across the organization.
  • IT Infrastructure Oversight: Oversee the maintenance and support of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networking equipment, and telecommunication systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead a team of desktop support technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient resolution of technical issues.
  • End-User Support: Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues and provide exceptional customer service to end-users.
  • IT Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to procure IT equipment, services, and support as needed.
  • System Administration: Perform system administration tasks such as user account management, software installations, and configuration management.
  • Project Management: Lead IT projects related to desktop upgrades, software deployments, and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, procedures, and user guides. Generate reports on system performance and incident resolution metrics.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in IT operations management with a focus on desktop support and end-user services.
  • Strong technical proficiency in desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS), office productivity suites (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace), and desktop hardware.
  • Experience managing desktop deployment tools (e.g., SCCM, Jamf) and remote support solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and mentor a team of IT professionals.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices in IT service management.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus
