At DirectDefense, we're excited to welcome a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Supervisor to our team. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead and mentor our accounting staff, overseeing key operations such as accounts payable, receivable, ledger maintenance, revenue, and asset accounting. You’ll ensure the accurate calculation, posting, and verification of financial data, maintaining high standards for our accounting and statistical records. Your expertise will be crucial in driving accurate analyses and reports, all while ensuring full compliance with accounting policies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise accounting staff in daily operations across multiple functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger maintenance, revenue, and asset accounting.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable revenue recognition guidance, including working with the Sales team to ensure proper documentation and structuring of transactions to allow for accurate revenue recognition.
  • Maintain cash flow by monitoring bank balances, cash requirements, and resource planning.
  • Approves cash disbursements by verifying check amounts against invoices, and authorizing checks and wire transfers.
  • Assists in the business insurance renewal process by scheduling values, including personnel and real property, vehicles, computers, equipment, media, and accounts receivable.
  • Summarizes current financial status by managing the month-end close process, including collecting information, and preparing balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and other reports.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.

Experience And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, focusing on supervisory or management roles.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy in financial data handling.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productivity and quality standards within the team.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus.
  • Experience working in the IT services or consulting field is a plus.

As required by Colorado law under the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, DirectDefense provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 per year with an annual bonus.
