Position Summary

The Senior Business Analyst, Operations will play a pivotal role in supporting the strategic and operational goals of The Rockefeller Foundation by providing integrated business planning and data analysis to enhance operational performance and efficiency and drive data-driven decision-making. This role requires a proactive, analytical professional who will partner with the Office of the Chief Operation Officer (COO), operations leaders, and stakeholders across the Foundation. The operations portfolio led by the COO includes Finance, RF Catalytic Capital, IT, Legal, Office of Grants Management, Human Resources, DEI, Connected Leaders, Bellagio Center, and Sustainable Operations.

The Senior Business Analyst will transform complex strategic questions into actionable insights through in-depth data analyses and creating visually compelling reports. They will work closely with data and system owners and IT to develop and maintain integrated operations dashboards, ensure data accuracy and consistency, and support the Foundation's data governance and management strategy led by IT. Additionally, they will focus on business enablement by evaluating and improving operational processes, supporting change management initiatives, and contributing to monitoring and reporting on risk indicators as a part of the Foundation’s enterprise risk management program. They will partner with the Managing Director, Operations to support an integrated annual goal and budget-setting process for operations, conducting regular financial analyses to aid in budget management across the operations portfolio, and partnering with the finance team on operations forecasting. This role will also manage the integrated business planning calendar and contribute to scenario planning and modeling exercises to support prioritization, decision-making, and optimizing resource allocation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mentality with the heart of a storyteller. They will have the ability to manage multiple projects, integrate data from various sources, and develop user-friendly dashboards and reports. They should excel in stakeholder management, and problem-solving, and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail.

This position reports to the Managing Director, Operations within the Office of the COO and requires a balance of critical thinking and operational execution, contributing to both the immediate and long-term success of the Foundation.

Pay Range: $103,300- $136,700. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Transform complex strategic business questions from operations and senior leadership into targeted data analyses, presenting insights through clear, visually engaging reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop a comprehensive performance reporting framework for operations.
  • Partner with data owners across operational systems to develop and maintain integrated dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure all dashboards and reports are intuitive, user-friendly, and accessible; provide training and support to enhance data literacy and ensure effective use of data insights.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in dashboards and reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency by working closely with data owners.
  • Regularly assess and improve reporting processes and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with operational needs and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT team to align with the Foundation’s data governance and management strategy, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards in data handling and reporting.
  • Champion the responsible use of data and analyses across the Foundation’s operational areas by advocating for the importance of collecting and leveraging data, and supporting the use of data analysis in decision-making.

Integrated Business Planning and Enablement

  • Partner with the Office of the COO and operations leaders to drive integrated annual goal and budget setting across the operations portfolio.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis across the operations portfolio, supporting the Office of the COO in managing the overall operations budget and collaborating with the finance team on annual and multi-year operations forecasting.
  • Manage integrated business planning calendar, consulting with operations leadership on annual milestones for key cross-functional processes.
  • Support scenario planning and modeling exercises to inform strategic decisions, change management for new processes, and optimize resource allocation across the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs, gather feedback, and integrate solutions in alignment with organizational priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Contribute to the enterprise risk management program by identifying potential risks within operational processes, proposing mitigation strategies, monitoring and reporting on risk indicators, and collaborating with relevant teams to implement risk management practices that safeguard the organization's assets and objectives.

Education, Experience, And Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, strategy, business operations, or data analysis roles, with a strong background in managing complex projects and driving data-informed decision-making.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field such as Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in data platforms and applications such as Salesforce, SQL, and other relevant tools for data management and analysis.
  • Experience with data exploration and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms to develop dynamic and interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills to identify issues, conduct root cause analysis, and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience in preparing, synthesizing, and presenting detailed and highly visual analyses to senior leadership and other executive audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Great team player, capable of building and maintaining relationships with diverse internal stakeholders, including operations leaders, IT, and other departments.
  • Highly proactive, self-motivated, and proven experience with continuous process improvement and outcomes.
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while managing various tasks and projects.
