Senior Development Manager

Our client, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a Senior Development Manager to join their Albany, NY office. This role is pivotal to driving the company’s growth, with a focus on community distributed generation (CDG) projects in the NYISO and PJM regions.

The Senior Development Manager will supervise a dedicated small team, including in-house project coordinators and project managers/developers, who will conduct commercial, legal, and technical due diligence for specific projects. This role involves coordinating and maintaining relationships with both internal and external advisors and partners. The role can also oversee interactions with planning service providers, grid interconnection operators, electric utilities, community groups, and other relevant stakeholders in New York and surrounding states.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of project development managers, project managers and coordinators across multiple U.S. regions.
• Manage the origination, evaluation, and development of CDG PV projects from start to completion.
• Oversee commercial, legal, and technical due diligence for projects, ensuring smooth collaboration with stakeholders such as legal advisors, development partners, utilities, and community groups.
• Support financial planning, project pipeline reporting, and forecasting for board presentations.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, utilities, and other key stakeholders to secure planning permits, licenses, and grid connections.
• Conduct environmental assessments and coordinate interconnection studies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Identify new markets for growth, contributing to the company’s overall strategic expansion in the U.S.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Masters Degree preferred but not essential in a relevant field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in utility scale or community distributed generation project development
• Proven track record in executing complex energy projects within PJM, NYISO, and/or ISO-NE markets
• Strong leadership abilities with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
