Job Title: Civil / Structural Senior Engineer

Duration: 18 months

Job Summary: The Civil / Structural Senior Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and analysis of civil and structural components for new Nuclear Power Plants within a dynamic team environment. This role includes performing soil-structure interaction analysis, designing safety-related structures, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. The position is integral to advancing new plant designs and successfully delivering projects. Key responsibilities include leading design efforts, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, and serving as a technical expert.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Soil-Structure-Interaction (SSI) analysis of Safety-Related Structures.
  • Conduct design and analysis of Safety-Related Structures in compliance with ASME, AISC, and ACI codes.
  • Execute static and dynamic analyses of complex structures using SAP4, ANSYS, and/or NASTRAN.
  • Analyze the impact of thermal stresses, hydrodynamic loads, and external forces like missiles and severe winds on reinforced concrete structures.
  • Develop engineering reports and licensing documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to address technical issues.
  • Ensure design requirements are incorporated into analyses and documentation.
  • Provide expert consultation on system design and engineering practices.
  • Work within project schedules and compliance requirements to achieve mission success.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in Nuclear Island structural analysis, including Containment and Reactor Building design.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Systems Design.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant design codes and ANSYS or other FEA software.

Special Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Seismic Soil-Structure-Interaction software such as ACS-SASSI or SASSI.
  • Must meet specific regional regulatory and licensing requirements for nuclear engineering roles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of nuclear power plant design, including safety-related structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software like ANSYS, SAP4, and NASTRAN.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply design codes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Additional Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with Turbine Island and Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.
  • Familiarity with BWR technology and certified designs like ESBWR and ABWR.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide technical teams.
