WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Art and Education, the primary role of the Program Manager of Art and Learning is to oversee the operations of education and art programs that connect youth experiencing homelessness to traditional academic milestones or career opportunities through the following exploratory areas: Technology for Social Justice, Cross-Cultural Activism, and the Arts (Visual, Performing, Digital, etc.) Daily tasks include supervision for union line staff performing direct client services, program and curricula development, budget management, events planning, crisis support, and direct services work as needed. The role works closely with the Program Manager of Academic Support and both Workforce and Arts staff. The role will supervise a total of 4 direct reports: 2 Learning Center Educators and 2 Art Program Staff.

This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support in the development and refinement of exploratory learning for youth experiencing homelessness, focusing on trauma-informed and harm-reduction best practices.
  • Provide staff-centered supervision for a team of union line staff, including weekly one-on-ones, regular team meetings, job coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Help plan and hold special art-focused and educational events for youth at Larkin Street Youth Service's housing sites and community centers.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Larkin Street Academy's workforce and arts programs, and Larkin Street housing sites located throughout San Francisco.
  • Develop partnerships with external industries to increase youth involvement within different career industries related to The Learning Center and Arts exploratory areas.
  • Create and manage a program calendar of events and activities for all Arts and Learning Center programming.
  • Monitor data entry submission for all team members, ensuring periodic and timely entry.
  • Write monthly State of Union reports documenting successes in program operations.
  • Manage budget with unrestricted funding sources, completing monthly expense reports and assisting with annual budget development.
  • Support and maintain the day-to-day operations and flow of the Larkin Street Academy milieu.
  • Attend regular agency meetings, including program, department, leadership, and all-staff.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other staff and programs in support of clients experiencing special challenges.
  • Responsible for screening candidates, interviewing and onboarding Learning Center staff, and assisting with interviewing for other Larkin Street Youth Services positions.
  • Share in on-call manager rotation with other Larkin Street Youth Services Program Management, assisting in after-hours issues within Larkin Street housing sites.
  • Perform tasks and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner, complying with agency policies and standards and conforming to the requirements of this job description.
  • Support staff in curriculum development for workshops and cohorts geared to support youth in resource navigation, computer literacy, mindfulness, and advising 101 as well as Arts programs.
  • Support staff with artistic programming, partnerships, and networking across San Francisco.
  • Exploring expansion of external partnerships and following through with partnership agreements.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
  • You have Case Management experience with Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), aged 18 to 25 of diverse backgrounds, similar to the client base at Larkin Street Youth Services.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in educational, arts, workforce-development and/or supported vocational services programs.
  • You maintain a creative, team-building, cooperative approach to job performance and seek to bring a constructive, problem-solving orientation to all tasks.
  • You have an awareness of the agency's mission and work to promote the positive individual and social change goals it embodies.
  • You exercise discretion and professional judgment at all times keeping with the responsibilities carried personally and by the agency for the care and welfare of staff and the youth whom we serve.
  • You actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience.
  • You understand the importance of maintaining the strictest confidentiality.
  • You thrive in a multicultural environment, collaborating with diverse staff.
  • You have previous experience in leadership roles.
  • You are a self-starter and team player. Your colleagues describe you as innovative, flexible, and results-oriented.
  • You work best in a mostly in-person working environment (1 day per week WFH).
  • You are willing to serve as an After Hours On-Call Supervisor for 7 days, every 6-8 weeks.
  • You are willing to work holidays occasionally.
  • You are vaccinated against COVID 19.
