Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently have a vacancy for an Admissions Coordinator to work a Full-Time schedule from 10:30am to 6:30pm. In this position an Admissions Coordinator will be responsible for conducting assessments of new resident upon admission, perform resident treatment and preventative medical treatment, as appropriate, provide documentation, ensure compliance and standards are upheld and in addition to but not limited to the following duties:

Occupancy

  • Complete admissions paperwork with resident/responsible party and file accordingly in a timely manner
  • Conduct tours and work closely with family members and residents to develop relationships and ease the transition. Accommodate prospect scheduling, as needed.
  • Qualify prospects within established guidelines and work with Business Office, Nursing and others, as necessary.
  • Ensure rehab client/resident is greeted and needs are met on day of admission and follow up the next day for concerns/questions.
  • Assist as needed with prospecting activities: telephone, hospital visits, doctor office visits, events, and other activities.
  • Work with Director of Admissions to develop short and long-term plans to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborate with Director of Admissions on sending daily reports including but not limited to: inquiries, confirmed bed offers, tours, admissions, discharges and hospitalizations.

Community / Public Relations

  • Develop relationships with external community members to promote goodwill for Burcham Hills.
  • Keep up-to-date of competitors’ offerings/happenings.
  • Visit referral sources and develop personal connections.
  • Maintain professional ethics, demeanor and appearance while a representative of the community, both personally and professionally, which are reflective of Burcham’s culture.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication and interaction in all exchanges, be they written, verbal, physical, electronic, or otherwise.

Position Specifications

Education and Experience:

  • One-year experience in admissions preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prefer experience working with elders.
  • Experience with insurance and pay sources preferred.
  • Familiarity with Medical Terminology preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.

Knowledge And Abilities

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, discharge planners and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through to completion with little or no supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Proficient in Windows environment, MS Office and other data base programs.
  • Ability to use general office equipment and maintain organization within office environment.
