GJL Partners has been retained by a financial lending institution that is hiring a Corporate Controller. Our client specializes as a direct lender and is looking for industry experience in the field. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other management reporting. Ensure that reports conform to GAAP with proper disclosure requirements.
  • Work with all outside auditors, regulators, and consultants as needed.
  • Manages the preparation of audit requests and tax work papers and serves as liaison with Federal, State and other audit agencies, appropriate.
  • Manages the preparation and review of financial reporting, reconciliation and analysis by preparing and analyzing the following, profit and loss, balance sheet, portfolio, cash flow, and key performance statistics
  • Oversee, manage, train, and mentor the following teams: GL accounting, A/P, A/R, tax, compliance, treasury and financial reporting
  • Assist with and manage special projects as needed; for example: adjusted core deposit analysis and calculation, FASB/GAAP analysis for impact on company.
  • Responsible for managing, leading, coaching, and motivating the accounting staff.
  • Creates, implements and measures department objectives, policies and operating procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s Degree preferred
  • CPA preferred but not required if applicable experience can be proven
  • Minimum of ten to twelve (10-12) years of professional experience ideally in financial services.
  • Internal/External audit experience required
  • Strong ability to interpret financial reports and recommend appropriate actions
  • Works effectively with business partners and cross functionally with other departments
  • Ability to grow and effectively lead team
