Job Summary

The Router/Dispatcher is responsible for developing and maintaining bus routes in accordance with State, Federal, and District guidelines. This role ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of routes in collaboration with drivers and other transportation staff.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Assistance

  • Provide support to drivers with questions about routes (e.g., clock-in/out times, daily tools) to ensure clarity and compliance.

Routing Software

  • Check routing software and Infinite Campus for new students to update records and ensure accuracy.

Communication

  • Communicate verbally and in writing with administrators, staff, parents, and community members to address concerns and share information.

Route Scheduling

  • Generate and schedule bus routes to meet state guidelines and district building tiers.

Time Clock Monitoring

  • Monitor Time Clock Plus to verify dispatch logs and manage route coverage.

Rider Monitoring

  • Track the number of riders on each bus to address overcrowding as needed.

Reporting

  • Prepare routing information for the Board of Education report twice a year, ensuring timely and accurate updates.

Boundary Review

  • Review school district boundaries for accurate student data import into routing software.

Route Adjustment

  • Review and adjust routes based on parent requests or hazardous conditions to ensure student safety.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned to ensure effective functioning of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Skills

  • Adherence to safety practices
  • Operation of transportation equipment
  • Accurate record-keeping

Knowledge

  • Basic math and technical information
  • Safety practices, codes, policies, regulations, and county streets
