Entrepreneurship Program Manager

FastForward is a coordinated suite of resources designed to efficiently move technologies from startup to marketplace. Part of Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV), FastForward serves as a catalyst for the advancement and commercialization of an array of innovations that are derived both at the University and from collaborative projects elsewhere. The goal of FastForward is to help early ventures increase the probability of realizing their potential and bring innovation and life-changing technologies to market.

We are seeking an Entrepreneurship Program Manager who possesses a deep passion for the startup ecosystem and is dedicated to developing innovative resources and programming that empower startups to thrive and succeed. The Program Manager will report to the Associate Director, Entrepreneurship and will work in coordination with them to oversee programs that contribute to the formation / growth of startup companies and the support and development of ecosystems around Hopkins, in Baltimore and across the State of Maryland.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Program Development

  • Assists in the creation and management of startup programs, ensuring they align with the needs of early-stage companies.


Program Management

  • Coordinates and acts as operational lead for educational programming for startups, including workshops and seminars on relevant topics pertinent to our portfolio.
  • JHU I-Corps Program – Manages the JHU I-Corps program which trains faculty inventors in a nationally recognized model of entrepreneurship. Recruits and selects teams from across the Baltimore region to participate in I-Corps with the goal of creating viable startups based on true customer discovery outcomes. Recruits and trains mentors to assist each team through the cohort. Acts as liaison between JHU, Mid Atlantic I-Corps HUB, local university partners and NSF for the I-Corps program.


Startup Support

  • Provides support to faculty and student startup teams, advising on business planning and growth strategies in coordination with the Associate Director.
  • Delivers resources and advice to startups, helping them navigate the challenges of business development.


Performance Monitoring

  • Works in coordination with the Associate Director to track and report on the progress of startups, including key metrics like capital raised and strategic partnerships. Ensures data is current in Salesforce and prepare periodic nonstandard reports and presentations.


Ecosystem Engagement

  • Engages with the entrepreneurial ecosystem, representing the organization in various forums and fostering a supportive environment for startups.


Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with the needs and challenges of early-stage companies, particularly in tech transfer or academic innovation contexts.
  • Skills in creating and managing educational content (e.g., workshops, seminars) tailored to startups.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and ensure programs are aligned with strategic goals.
  • Skills in recruiting teams from across multiple institutions and effectively communicating with local university partners and mentors.
  • Ability to use Salesforce for tracking, managing data, and preparing nonstandard reports.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Three years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident required due to Federal Export Controls.
  • Professional experience in an academic environment.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency

Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination.
