Position Overview
The Cost Estimator will gather and analyze data to estimate the amount of money, time, materials, and labor required to complete logistics/civil engineering and construction projects. This position will play a key role in developing bid and cost strategies and will be responsible for the complete estimating life cycle. An ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a part of the team to prepare and submit proposals. Experience in bidding civil engineering and construction projects up to $10M is a plus.
Responsibilities
Cost analysis, cost controls and reporting for Logistics/Civil Engineering projects
Work with the Engineering and routing teams to determine project scope and define requirements
Prepare cost data for proposals and contract negotiations and support bid process
Organize, monitor, and control project costs in accordance with contractual requirements and Company procedures
Provide financial reporting and trending data
Proactively advise management when forecasted costs exceed the approved budget
Analyze cost metrics and perform risk analyses
Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure proposed scope of work is understood
REQUIRED Traits
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field desired. Proven on-the-job experience as a cost estimator may be considered in lieu of degree.
1-3 years related experience required in cost engineering, cost estimating, planning, and scheduling in logistics/civil engineering field
Functional knowledge of cost accounting
Knowledge of logistics/civil engineering processes and materials
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
Aptitude to succeed in fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers, colleagues, business partners and local/state DOT & Permitting representatives
Ability to travel
Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office Suite
