RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Greenwood Village, CO that is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their team that is building the next generation of connectivity and ushering in a new era for Cable. The Principal Software Engineer will work on projects of diverse complexity and scope, exercising independent judgment to select technology solutions and mature concepts into new platform features. This position will provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers and will work with this leadership to establish requirements and deliverables. This role requires strong software development skills and an ability to quickly learn complex technical concepts.

Responsibilities:
* Provide technical leadership and innovation on software projects through all phases of the development lifecycle
* Design and develop new tooling to enable better management of Gitlab repositories
* Maintain and upgrade continuous integration pipelines
* Build dashboards and reports to evaluate development velocity and identify bottlenecks and process shortcomings
* Responsible for complex projects that involve several technical systems and constituents
* Design, develop, test, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot software systems
* Develop RESTful APIs for use by external applications using TypeScript
* Enforce and follow best practices for code development, API design, version control, test automation and build automation
* Mentor and guide the work of junior technical staff
* Create project documentation
* Collaborate with fellow engineers to develop road maps for applications, align development plans, and ensure effective integration among dependent systems and platform infrastructure
* Provide technical direction for operational teams
* Provide technical requirements for development partners of dependent software systems

REQUIREMENTS:
* 8-12 years of experience with software engineering and development
* Experience with dependency management and continuous integration testing tools
* Extensive knowledge and implementation with open-source software
* Advanced knowledge of software development and delivery (cloud computing, containerization, AWS, micro services, high-availability, software design principles, continuous integration testing, end-to-end testing, and unit testing)
* Ability to create and read architectural diagrams (UML, sequence, C4 model)
* Leadership and technical decisiveness related to software development projects and PoCs
* Ability to listen to multiple points of view, synthesize against goals, and provide recommendations
* Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and quickly learn new technology

Experience with:
* Typescript monorepo
* CI/CD
* AWS (EKS, VPC, EC2, S3, Cassandra/Keyspaces, ELB, Secrets Manager, ACM, Route53, IAM)
* Linux, shell scripting
* Testing frameworks (Bun, Jest, ViTest)
* OAuth 2.0 (server experience required, client experience helpful)
* RESTful API design
* OpenAPI/Swagger
* Backend architecture
* Docker and Kubernetes
* Package managers: Typescript (pnpm & Bun); Python (Poetry); Nix

Build tools experience:
* Esbuild, Bun; Gitlab and tools to support analytics/automations
* Renovate, Bash, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Veracode, SonarQube

Linting tools experience:
* Typescript (eslint, tsc)
* Python (pylint, mypy, flake8)

Preferred experience:
* Network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology
* TCP/IP and the OSI Model
* Wireless access points, connected devices, and network interfaces

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
