The services include: Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of subsidiary and general ledgers, reconciling and analyzing accounts Preparing journal vouchers, monthly financial statements and audit work papers

The Staff Accountant operates under the guidance of the Staff Accountant [Supervising] and must be a team player with good communication and computer skills. These skills are required to effectively perform analyses and accounting work to support timely and accurate production of financial information as well as meeting audit requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare, process and analyze Subsidiary and General Ledger transactions:

Responsible for processing Accounts Receivables transactions including liaising with Program Support Staff for issue resolution. Prepare various journal entries for approval, including corporate prepaid, corporate credit card, metro/gift cards and telephone bill expensing. Input approved journal entries into the accounting system prepared by Program Support and other Controller’s group staff. Reconcile various bank and other general ledger accounts. Perform selected Treasury Management functions, including opening new and monitoring existing accounts, bank transfers, bank signatory authorizations and Metro/Gift cards inventory control. Serve as backup for other accountant’s position as needed, specifically check printing and Fixed Assets transaction processing. Prepare Account Receivable and Treasury Reports for the monthly Controllers Meeting. Assist in month-end closings and preparation of financial statements; assist in audits including preparing confirmations and other analyses. Other job-related duties and special projects as required - including assisting other members of the Controller’s Department. Position Type and expected hours of work:

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday. Additional weekend and evening hours may be required to meet agency deadlines.

Working Conditions and physical demands required:

  • Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer at least 70% of the time

Ability to carry work papers and a laptop to various locations

Meet competing deadlines Qualifications Education and/or experience required: Bachelor's in accounting or Bachelor's with 12 credits accounting and 2 years' relevant experience or Associates in accounting with 3 years’ relevant experience. Good knowledge of accounting, Microsoft Office, Excel and Word required. Quick learner and strong in adapting to computer applications. Good interpersonal skills exhibited by the ability to communicate with staff, management, and other departments in a professional manner. Good skills in paying attention to detail, analyses, developing and recommending solutions and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks on a timely basis with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. Work requires a strong work ethic and exhibiting a sense of urgency in completion of tasks, willingness to work a flexible schedule and a commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities.
