Role:

APV is seeking expertise in informaticists with in-depth biomedical terminology experience. Knowledge management of the health science background sufficient to develop mappings and modeling to sources such as Mondo Disease Ontology (MONDO), Orphanet and Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) as well as other appropriate standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops semantic infrastructure such as metadata, ontology standards, proficient in using terminology tools and has extensive expertise in clinical terminology management such as maintaining terminology by providing updates to domain specific value sets based on new or changed terminology standards.
  • Perform and manage the organization and annotation of biomedical data from internal and external sources. Manage the importation of relevant data sets from external sources.
  • Assess, identify and address data quality or consistency issues to achieve project targets
  • Direct staff to work in a matrix environment that includes government staff, and other government contractors to develop and execute a workflow that transforms scientific disease information into useable plain text (Palantir Foundry) that is then loaded into the Contact Relationship Management (CRM) & Content Management System (CMS) (Salesforce) for use by the GARD contact center and the GARD website, respectively
  • Technical lead for informatics and data science, leveraging Palantir s Foundry Ontology to analyze and integrate disease information, and providing input for the new artificial intelligence platform
  • Responsible for ensuring the managing and maintaining of a knowledge base for internal and external consumption.
  • Works with SMEs and internal and external stakeholders to identify relevant, accurate content and generate standardized, reusable, and searchable content
  • Accountable for quality assurance across all published content, including reviewing aging content and ensuring both scientific and patient-oriented relevance
  • Supervise and participate in the creation of user stories, defining requirements, and acceptance criteria for Salesforce and website developers in Jira

Qualifications:

  • Master s degree in health science field
  • Strong understanding of taxonomies, ontologies and knowledge representation
  • Experience working with genetic and rare diseases, preferably with a focus on GARD
  • Experience using AI and LLMs in a research or development setting is a plus
