BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Company HQ: near Columbus, OH

Location for home office: Anywhere Indiana or in the Midwest.

Compensation plan: Up to $160,000 first year (possibly higher based on new business development)

OUR CLIENT:

Long-standing corporation with decades of history in design, engineering and production of products to a broad base of customers. They are a major supplier to Automotive but also expanding in Agricultural, Oil and Gas, Medical, Defense, & Material Handling to name a few. The organization is focused on highly specialized stampings, robotic welding, laser cutting and fabricated steel components. WITH CURRENT AND EXPANDING business our client is looking for their next Business Development Manager to grow and lead the sales for this corporation.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the President, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a sales strategy that maximizes current products along with maintaining long-term business relationships with the current customer base. Develop relationships with new customers and opportunities to maximize company growth and performance. Based out of a home office with full reimbursement on travel to current and new business clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Call on existing customers in order to review customer needs and strategic initiatives, and to determine growth opportunities; generate and develop new business with new customers in current and new markets in order to increase revenue.
  • Develop and implement a sales plan to achieve sales goals, be aware of and responsive to market conditions and competitive activities.
  • Prepare and present bids and quotations to customers, using sound business judgment grounded in market intelligence to enhance margins.
  • Drive project-based business and manage all aspects of the customer relationship, providing sales and initial technical assistance to customers; ensure that accurate information flows to and from customers.
  • Provide technical solutions built around customer needs; collaborate with Engineering on customer product requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence regarding competitive products, customer needs, preferences, and buying habits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering is preferred (but will consider related work experience)
  • 5+ years sales experience with stampings and metal fabrication products. (must have)
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Very strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Experience preparing and presenting sales proposals.
  • Effective time management, organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Able to work from a home office and travel to customers.
  • Attend meetings at company HQ when needed.
