JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Career Technical Education (CTE) reports to the Chief Academic Officer and is a key administrative role responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation of statewide career-focused educational programs for Five Keys. The primary objective of the Director of CTE is to enhance the vocational skills and readiness of students, preparing them for successful careers in various industries while fulfilling the requirements of the CTEIG grant, K12 Strong WorkForce Grants, and any other career technical education grants which support Five Keys CTE programs and CCI outcomes.

The Director of CTE supports the SoCal and NorCal regions and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating career-focused educational programs that align with industry standards and meet the needs of students who are preparing for the workforce.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee CTE program development across California
  • Collaborate with educators, industry professionals, and community stakeholders to design and develop CTE programs that align with current industry trends and workforce demands.
  • Identify emerging careers and industries to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.
  • Curriculum oversight for all CTE programs
  • Supervise the development and review of CTE curricula, ensuring that it meets educational standards, industry requirements, and prepares students for relevant certifications or licenses.
  • Monitor and update curriculum content to reflect technological advancements and industry changes.
  • Provide guidance and support to CTE teachers, offering professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and keep them updated on industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of CTE instructors and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Hold regular staff meetings and lead advisory committees.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to facilitate work-based learning opportunities, internships, and mentorship programs for students.
  • Collaborate with post-secondary institutions to create pathways for students to pursue further education and training.
  • Develop and manage the budget for CTE programs, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Seek and secure external funding through grants and partnerships to support program expansion and improvement.
  • Manage CTEIG Grant including the annual application process and CTEIG financial reporting
  • Collect and analyze data on program effectiveness, student outcomes, and industry partnerships.
  • Prepare regular reports for school administrators, district officials, and relevant stakeholders to demonstrate the impact of CTE programs.
  • Advocate for the importance of CTE programs at local, state, and national levels, promoting awareness of the benefits of career-focused education.
  • Collaborate with policymakers to influence decisions related to CTE funding and support.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are important. Regular collaboration with team members and teachers, vendors and other Five Keys employees will be critical.
  • Project management: Ability to muli-task. Marketing Associates are often involved in multiple projects at one time.
  • The ability to organize details and complete projects in a timely manner is crucial to this position.
  • Advanced proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and databases
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work from home and independently, with high levels of self-accountability

Education

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in education, administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in career and technical education administration.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, workforce development, and educational policies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration between educators, industry partners, and community stakeholders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Additional Requirements

This position is contingent upon:

  • Satisfactory results of a Live Scan (criminal background investigation)
  • Successfully obtaining jail clearance for positions working in county jails or probation locations
  • Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to hire date are acceptable

  • Hybrid, must live in Southern California where Five Keys operates
  • Must be willing and able to work in a correctional facility and travel throughout the area to community sites
