About The Position

  • Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Intensive Care Unit (ICU) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years, previous travel highly preferred **License:** Current RN license required **Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), COVID Vaccine Required **Must-Have:** Ability to titrate vasoactives and comfort with ventilators. Team player with a willingness to ask questions. **Job Description:** - High-acuity unit with a 20-bed capacity split into three sections: 6-bed, 6-bed, and 8-bed. - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. - Common patient diagnoses include CABG, sepsis, respiratory failure, COVID, post-surgical cases, suicidal ideation, overdose, and stroke post-TPA. - Required to manage devices such as IABP, Impella, CRRT, ECMO, excluding travelers who will not handle these or open heart patients. - Titrate various drips such as pressors, sedation, paralytics, and anti-arrhythmics. - Charge nurse and resource nurses available for support, not included in staffing numbers. - Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) available for support. - 24/7 Hospitalist in-house coverage with an Intensivist on call after hours. Nurse Practitioners are available at night. - Respiratory Therapists manage equipment like vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and HFNC. - Proficiency in reading telemetry strips required; monitors are located in each room and throughout the unit. - Floating to other critical care units such as PCU, post-op heart unit, and Telemetry/Medical-Surgical as needed. - Dress code allows for any color scrubs as long as they are professional and not revealing. - Two shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor and two days with an educator. - The unit encourages teamwork and open communication.
