Summary:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) is seeking a Data Analyst professional to join the Commercial organization's Data Analytics & Strategy (DAS) team. DAS plays a key role in empowering decision-making through data and analytics, making complex decisions easier with insightful, data-driven solutions.
This role is focused on the practical application of practical analytics through data analysis, data engineering, and business intelligence, particularly where analytics intersects with business decisions. As a key player in our team, you'll be responsible for exploring, integrating, and engineering data from multiple enterprise sources, enabling actionable insights that drive Commercial success. A successful candidate will combine strong SQL and Azure data platform skills with critical thinking and the ability to tell compelling stories with data. Preferably the candidate will be located in Findlay, OH or San Antonio, TX but open to considering individuals in other MPC locations as well.

Responsibilities:
- Acquires, cleans and preprocesses raw data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability; maintains knowledge of key systems and queries those systems for data.
- Conducts in-depth analysis of large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
- Develops and implements analytical models to forecast future trends and outcomes.
- Uses a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to address complex business challenges. Thinks creatively and critically to solve problems, even when faced with incomplete or ambiguous information.
- Develops and performs statistical analysis to identify patterns and correlations in the data.
- Develops and implements visualization tools using platforms like Power BI to enhance data accessibility and user experience, adhering to best practices and governance standards.
- Creates visually compelling and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports.
- Communicates findings to stakeholders through charts, graphs, and presentations.
- Translates complex data findings into compelling narratives that drive business decisions, using both static and dynamic analytic tools.
- Ensures integrity and quality of data through regular audits and validation processes
- Works closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver insights
- Drive continuous improvement and defect elimination in organization using data insights
- Establishes and supports data governance to ensure data is fit for optimum use by the organization
- Partners and leads initiatives to build sustainable data pipelines, automations, and advanced analytics solutions
- Partners with stakeholders across the business to align data solutions with strategic objectives, providing insights into how we move, market, price, and sell our products.
- Utilizes SQL and Azure data services to source, engineer, and integrate data from across the enterprise, ensuring that data is accessible and usable for analysis and decision-making.
- Manages a portfolio of analytics projects from concept to execution, ensuring that outcomes are aligned with business goals and lead to actionable insights.
- Leverages automation to streamline data workflows, ensure data integrity, and enhance stakeholder access to actionable insights.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance existing processes, shares new analytical concepts, and extends the impact of data initiatives across MPC.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field required.
- Two (2) years of experience required.
- At least 1 year of experience with data visualization (preferably using Power BI or Tableau) and querying data using SQL.
- Experience with data integration and engineering.
- Four (4) years of experience required.
