CFD Research Corporation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in the design, development and integration of complex systems for our customers. This position is a new role that will work on a growing team of engineers and technicians and will encompass conceptual design, prototyping, and testing in support technology development programs designed and prototyped at our new Hollywood, Alabama Engineering Test Center, located a short distance from our Headquarters in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will have experience working engineering tasks related to concept development, design, fabrication, prototyping and testing aerospace hardware. One challenge for this opening will be to help facilitate functionality between the engineering team and production/prototyping facility. The candidate must be able to interpret analytical simulation results when considering design options, weighing tradeoffs in design to best meet customer objectives. The candidate should be comfortable interacting with multiple stakeholders, including the government customer. This position will require a driven individual with a common-sense approach to hardware engineering and a passion for building/making/testing technologies.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or similar STEM discipline)
    SolidWorks or CAD experience

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience developing prototype aerospace hardware
  • Experience with actuation systems
  • Experience with CNC machinery, testing, and fabrication tools/processes

Location: This individual will work onsite in Hollywood, Alabama and may include trips to our Headquarters in nearby Huntsville, AL as needed.
