ln-Q-Tel is the independent, not-for-profit organization created to bridge the gap between the technology needs of the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) and emerging commercial innovation. IQT invests in venture-backed startups developing technologies that provide ready-soon innovation vital to the IC mission. Through its distinct role at the intersection of government, venture capital, and the startup world, IQT makes impactful investments that support the missions of the Central Intelligence Agency and the broader U.S. Intelligence Community.

The Portfolio Analysis Intern will provide financial analysis, modeling, and transaction support for IQT's portfolio of venture capital technology investments. The position will provide support at different stages of pre and post-investment activities and leverage the individual's investment-related experience to fulfill the IQT mission.

Responsibilities

The Portfolio Analysis Intern will assist the Finance and Investment/Portfolio team on data collection, analysis of pre-deal and post-deal mechanics. financial due diligence. as well as projects related to capturing investment terms, capitalization tables, and portfolio company data in IQT's proprietary systems.

Anticipated Projects:

  • Assist in streamlining the portfolio management process and building systems for investment origination, management, and valuation.
  • Provide support in the managing of and the reporting on investment related data.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed for organizational initiatives

Qualifications

  • Experience or interest in early-stage technology deals; exposure to venture capital deals a plus.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business or related field.
  • Demonstrated self-starter able to carry out activities with minimum supervision.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements.
  • Ability to perform investment modeling, investment valuations and analysis.
  • Experience with cap tables and liquidation structures in both a financing and liquidation scenario.
  • Experience with excel, tableau, and fund accounting software.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with peers and management.
  • Strong interest in supporting the US national security mission.

The role will commence during the candidate's spring semester and will initially require approximately 10+hours per week. During the summer, the role will require approximately 40 hours per week. The candidate should be in pursuit of an academic degree in good standing.
