This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will manage the Launch Vehicle Operations technician team to process flight hardware, perform launch vehicle mate and vehicle processing, participate in integrated testing, and closeout operations. You will share in our team's impact on all aspects of launch vehicle operations. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage/support/perform Launch Vehicle Operations technical functions (working manager)
  • Review/Edit operations procedures for integration of launch vehicle flight hardware and maintenance of ground support equipment.
  • Manage a large group of qualified technicians to perform processing activities in the Integration Facility hangar, Transporter Erector and Launch Pad interacting with Launch and Pad engineering teams.
  • Assist with hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of flight hardware, avionics equipment, fluid systems, ordnance and hydrazine systems and equipment.
  • Manage the Launch Ops maintenance & calibration program with a wide range of support equipment and tools.
  • Develop and maintain launch vehicle GSE per maintenance schedule.
  • Act as primary focal for all equipment, tooling, and consumable procurements.
  • Participate in development and implementation of mission unique solutions to flight vehicle process requirements.
  • Closely collaborate with engineers and technicians from various payload vehicle and ground system disciplines on a daily basis
  • Perform ordnance handling, checkout, installation, and connection.


Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace related engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years' specialized launch vehicle operations experience with large integration and/or the development of booster operations.
  • Experience supervising technicians at various skill levels.
  • Knowledge of Space Force regulations.
  • Knowledge of operating overhead bridge cranes.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision to develop and manage several tasks and schedules simultaneously.
  • Must be able to travel to other Blue Origin offices, alternate launch site, and customer facilities (within and outside the United States)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Position requires lifting (35-lbs), climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying, and standing for extended periods (8 hours min.)
  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends, when needed to support test or launch campaign timelines.


Desired
  • Certified to operate equipment such as aerial lifts, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Direct experience with engines, boosters, and umbilical operations.
  • Direct experience with hypergolic fuel operations to include SCAPE certifications.
  • Direct experience hands-on experience with ordnance handling, checkout installation, and electrical connection.
  • Experience developing and executing launch operations procedures.
  • Experience with lifting/handling GSE, environmental control systems operations.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Highly detail oriented, diligent, hard working with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with persons with diverse backgrounds.
