Description

This role will be responsible for assisting the Controller in developing, running, and managing ADNET’s accounting systems and processes. The Staff Accountant has sufficient authority and responsibility to ensure that the clients (external and internal) are always being taken care of. In this role, the Staff Accountant will ensure that accounting processes and procedures are completed in a timely fashion. It is expected that the Staff Accountant will help to support other members of the FPA team.

This position will be performed mainly remote but to the Rocky Hill, CT area, as travel to the office will be required some.

Position Qualifications

  • Education: A four-year degree in business administration and accounting, or three years of equivalent work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skill Level: Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and knowledge of computer systems required. Analytical and mathematical skills as related to accounting practices and procedures in general use. Ability to provide accurate financial reports and data in a timely manner. Must maintain confidentiality and discreetness in handling financial information. Must have the ability to handle phone lines and organize multiple tasks and priorities. Must have ability to learn and use in-house database tracking systems. Requires mathematical and analytical skills in interpreting financial records. Must have above average communication skills and the ability to maintain a professional manner. Must possess attention to detail. Ability to think logically, operate in a methodical manner, and to make decisions in matters of significance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and practice ADNET’s core values at all times:

  • Participate in month and year end close processes and reconciliations.
  • Process Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Purchasing activities.
  • Complete Purchase Order entry into system. Enter receipts and billing information into system.
  • Contact clients regarding outstanding invoices
  • Run system generated accounting reports.
  • Perform banking duties and update register.
  • Update and monitor client prepaid statements.
  • Provide backup phone support.
  • Assist in implementing new software and technology to improve the operations of the company.
  • Follow standard operational procedures and alert supervisor of inadequacies in procedures when necessary.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting in accordance with company and departmental policy and procedures.
  • Prepare and post month end journal entries.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Perform financial analysis to support the needs of the Controller and other departments.
  • Assist with issuing client contracts.
  • Work with the Controller to develop accounting procedures and/or systems to improve the efficiency of the organization while improving client service. Leverage technology to generate efficiencies.
  • Perform financial analysis to support the needs of the Controller and other departments.
  • Develop and update accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures.
  • Take initiative to assess procedures and controls related to day-to-day tasks and make recommendations for continuous process improvements.
  • Follow policies and standard operating procedures for the FPA department.
  • Learn new technologies that will help the company to run leaner and more efficiently.
  • Work with the Controller to develop and monitor career objectives and goals.
  • Control, track, and reconcile monthly inventory and accounting reports.
  • Perform other such tasks as assigned by the Controller and the President.
The Staff Accountant will be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following have occurred:

Compensation Range of $63,000-$68,000 DOE

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

  • Physical: Vision: Correctable vision. Hearing: Full hearing capability including the dissemination of tones. An ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasion. An ability to stand and/or sit for up to 10 hours/day.
  • Language: Ability to effectively speak, read and write English.
  • Working Conditions: An ability to work in a professional office environment. Work time may include some evenings and weekends as well as overnight travel. There may be a need to work late or on the weekend on projects to meet client or project deadlines.
  • Transportation: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for transportation to and from ADNET’s offices as required.
  • Travel: This position may require travel on occasion. Must have the ability to fly on commercial airlines when necessary.
